The UM Award for Pedagogical Excellence in the 2025/26 Academic Year

Dear students,

You are invited to take part in identifying outstanding examples of pedagogical excellence. Nominate higher education teachers and higher education associates who have made a particular impression on you. If you have recognised exceptional quality, innovative approaches and dedication to the transfer of knowledge in their teaching, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to recognising quality in teaching.

About the Award

The UM Award for Pedagogical Excellence recognises and promotes outstanding achievements of staff in the field of teaching. Help highlight and reward those who inspire and encourage you in your development.
Each year, the awards are expected to be presented on World Teachers’ Day, 5 October. One main award is conferred upon higher education teachers and one upon higher education associates in each of the following two fields:

Natural Sciences, Engineering, Health and Agriculture
Social Sciences and Humanities

From Nomination to Selection

A nomination may be submitted by a group of at least three students (who are attending a course taught by the nominee in the current academic year), the faculty student council, the faculty senate (upon the proposal of the faculty’s committee for academic affairs), or the head of a study programme.

Nomination Timeline

The nomination period runs until the end of the summer examination period of the current academic year. In the 2025/26 academic year, nominations may be submitted no later than 10 July 2026.

Nominations must be submitted via the online form provided in Annex 1 (opens in a new tab) .

Public Call for Applications for the Award for the Best Master’s Thesis in the Field of Competition Law for 2026

The Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for the Protection of Competition hereby announces a Public Call for Applications for the Award for the Best Master’s Thesis in the Field of Competition Law for 2026.

The purpose of the call is to encourage students’ research work in the field of competition protection, increase interest in competition law, and recognize outstanding professional and research achievements of young researchers.

The deadline for submitting applications is 30 September 2026.

On Thursday, 7 May 2026, Dr Damjan Kukovec, Judge at the General Court of the European Union, will deliver a lecture as part of the course EU Legal System and Institutions. The lecture will take place at 9:00 a.m. in the Auditorium Maximus lecture hall.

Announcing the 2026/2027 Call for Enrolment in Postgraduate Study Programmes of the UM

We are announcing the 2026/2027 Call for Enrolment in Postgraduate Study Programmes of the University of Maribor. The first application period opens on 31 March 2026. There are 54 master's and 36 doctoral study programmes available for enrolment. General provisions of the Call, available enrolment places and admission requirements are available on the my.um.si website > Future Students > Enrolment in Postgraduate Studies.

The first application period for enrolment in the first year of master's studies will remain open until:

4 September 2026 for citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and EU Member States as well as Slovenians in the border regions and abroad;
30 April 2026 for citizens of non-EU Member States.

The first application period for enrolment in the first year of doctoral studies will remain open until:

4 September 2026 for citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and EU Member States;
30 April 2026 for Slovenians in the border regions and abroad and citizens of non-EU Member States.

Guest lecture of Dr. Sarah Ganty

You are cordially invited to attend a guest lecture of dr. Sarah Ganty with the title "EU Asylum, Immigration and Integration Policy: Selected Issues". The lecture will be held on Monday, 14 March 2022, at 1 pm in the lecture hall Auditorium Maximum. The lecture will be held under the auspices of the Jean Monnet Module Fundamental Rights and EU Business Law and Policy.

Sarah Ganty, LL.M. (Yale), Ph.D. (ULB), is a FWO postdoctoral researcher at the University of Ghent and a guest lecturer at the Central European University in Vienna and at the Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis in Brussels. Dr. Ganty is also a J. S. D. candidate at Yale Law School.
