Kick-off Meeting in Maribor

The Faculty of Law, University of Maribor was again successful in obtaining an EU project under the JUSTICE programme of the European Commission, entitled: "Digital communication and safeguarding the parties' rights: challenges for European civil procedure - DIGI-GUARD".
The kick-off meeting with the project partners took place from 2 to 4 July – the first working day in the idyllic setting of Roban's Corner and the second day at the premises of the Faculty of Law, University of Maribor.
The project aims to comparatively study the impact of modern digital communication tools on the basic rules and principles of civil litigation, such as taking evidence, serving documents and conducting court proceedings in a digital environment. In doing so, the project also aims to contribute to greater mutual trust between the Member States in civil and commercial matters. The results of previous projects carried out by the Faculty of Law under the JUSTICE programme have already served as a legislative basis for the EU Commission.
The Faculty of Law, University of Maribor, is the coordinating institution of the project, and seven other higher education institutions from seven EU countries are participating (University of Graz, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University Hannover, University of Maastricht, University of Rijeka, University of Uppsala, University of Wroclaw and Institute for Comparative Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana).
The programme manager of the project is Prof. Dr. Vesna Rijavec. The project is expected to run until the end of May 2024.
