An extensive scientific research activity is one of the key aspects for the development of a faculty. The Maribor Faculty of Law established a supportive environment for researchers to conduct their research activity in Slovenia and abroad. The faculty's incredibly extensive scientific research activity has resulted in outstanding performances of its teachers and researchers within prestigious international scientific groups and projects, which are directly demonstrated by their numerous publications in international scientific journals, relatively extensive exchange of teachers and students with their foreign academic partners at all levels of research and educational activities, and, more recently, their active participation in joint applications for EU projects with some of the most prominent European universities. The established motivating environment at the faculty includes a proper library and IT support, accounting and administrative offices and also a project office, which offers the researchers help when conducting their research projects. Furthermore, the faculty organizes numerous scientific conferences, national and international, while also developing and supporting well ranked faculty publications in international environment (JCS or Scopus).

This sort of inovative research approach is of utmost importance when seeking new solutions and is therefore always supported by the faculty. Employees and students of the faculty are encouraged in pursuing their inovative views, as well as researchers, who promote successful application of basic research results in practice and use their knowledge to solve existing problems, thus contributing to increased creativity, development, general quality of life and overall recognisability.
