The Law Society in Maribor was established in October 1964. The founding members of the society were: Miro Brečko, Jože Cigan Ph.D., Adolf Ferlinc, Miroslava Geč, Šime Ivanjko, Ivo Ketiš, Rajko Kramberger, Marjan Majcen, Ivan Muhič Ph.D., Jože Natek, Janez Nemec Ph.D., Adolf Obran Ph.D., Artur Pahor, Miran Potrč, Avgust Reisman Ph.D., Jože Sande, Ivanka Steinbücher, Matej Svetel, Leon Štukelj, Stanko Tadina, Majnhard Veberič Ph.D., Božo Vidmar, Rudolf Viher, Igor Vilfan Ph.D. and Nataša Zemljič.
Rajko Kramberger was elected the first president of the Law Society Maribor. He was later followed by: Janez Nemec Ph.D. (1964 - 1978), Rajko Kramberger (1978 - 1979), Jernej Sekolec Ph.D. (1980 - 1982), Rajko Kramberger (1982 - 1988), Šime Ivanjko Ph.D. (1988 - 1994), Andrej Vovšek (1994 - 2004) and Bojana Kmetec Rošic (2004 - now).
The Law Society successfully encourages active membership and has a rich history, full of activities. The society has prepared more than 400 lectures, and its members have published different articles and comments in numerous publications and participated in consultations and meetings as lecturers and co-organizers. Additionally, the society helps in spicing up the social life of its members by organising different excursions and other activities.
